A small campsite carefully managed by the owners under the countryside stewardship scheme. Our North Somerset camp site is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the pleasures of basic camping with open wood fires yet be in an ideal location for exploring all that North Somerset and the Bristol area has to offer. We can also offer camping before your flight in a pre-erected tent, see the airport camping/parking link for details.
The immediate area around the campsite is carefully managed under an environmental stewardship agreement, it is rich in wildlife including a local colony of the rare greater horseshoe bat that hunts in the vicinity.
The camping and caravanning pitches are in various fields on the outskirts of the woods. The exact location of your spot will be determined at the time of arrival, it is dependant on the condition of the ground and the grazing cycle of the livestock. We work hard to minimize environmental impact and damage to the ground. The woods themselves can accommodate small tents in various clearings.
Your pitch may mean crossing the lane to utilize the woods and compost toilets.
All camping and campsite areas include access to the ancient woodland area which includes two open fire areas with seating, twin compost toilets and a basic outdoor sink / washing up area with water supply. The woods are called brickyard woods as the local brickworks were based here in the 18th Century. There is no sign of these works now, except for some steep sided ponds where the clay was dug from. These fill with water at times of high rainfall so children must be supervised at all times.
There are plenty of local walks, from an amble around the woods and fields to public footpaths which can take you on a days trek from the campsite around Goblin Coombe, Brockley woods and Backwell woods.
The camp site is ideal for families, couples and small groups, Cyclists and Bikers can usually be accommodated, please ask when booking. However it is not a party venue, we aim for a quiet relaxing atmosphere for all our guests. Please be considerate to fellow campers and local residents.
The camp site is small but we are usually able to accommodate most requirements, even at peak times we like to allow guests plenty of space.
A flush toilet is a pleasant few minutes walk away, however you might be surprised how much you like the compost loos!
Please note there are currently no showers on site. There is no artificial lighting on the site, so please bring torches or lamps!
The owners live across the lane and are happy to help if they can with any queries, to ensure your stay is a pleasant one
